Al parecer, éste herrero tenía alguna relación con los hermanos Andenmatten de Saas Almager. Fueron fabricados en Saas-Grund, un pueblo cercano a Saas-Almager. Es muy probable que los piolets hechos con el sello de D.Andenmatten fueran de una clase superior.

REMINGTON

Es poca la información que hay con respecto a los piolets Remington. Son de Estados Unidos y pertenecen a un fabricante de armas.

Los Schenck fueron herreros de Grindelwald, lugar famoso por el Eiger y el Jungfrau. Los piolets de Christian Schenk fueron conocidos por su estilo elegante y afilado. Fue un herrero que hizo del piolet una obra de arte.

ALPENSTOCK Mid to Late 1800s

They were produced for military use in fifferent places in France and possibly also in Switzerland. Can be seen similar alpenstocks in the hands of civilians on old potos. These alpenstocks to be no nonsense originals base on old shepherd canes. Possibly, they were later produced for tourists with a chamois or goat horn on top instead of the shepherd crook simply to be more fashionable. The originals were light and the shaft was still very strong.

La cabeza del piolet está marcada con "C4" y la cabeza del martillo V4 porque es el modelo "V".
Louis Lachenal (primer ascenso de Annapurna) tenía un juego C4 con su nombre grabado en la hoja (ver F98 & 99).

"Badarelli is a surname, that of the blacksmith family of Courmayeur who worked a hundred meters south of the blacksmith Grivel, using the canal water further downstream for the Grivel. For a few years, between 1930 and 1937, he manufactured also a small number of ice axes basically identical to the ice axe model of the time, in particular for guides who did not like (which is very easy in the small villages of mountain) buy products from the Grivel family. The production of ice axes ended before WWII and never taken back. No member of the family today is a blacksmith anymore".
